FUTURE DEVELOPMENT OF YIRRANGAN ROAD AGREED
Sunbury locals will have better access around their community following an agreement reached by the Andrews Labor Government for the future extension of Yirrangan Road as part of the Jacksons Hill residential development.
Development Victoria on behalf of the Labor Government has committed to building the first section of the road and will provide a further $3.5 million to Hume City Council, who will then manage the development of further extensions.
For the 3,000 Jackson Hill residents the proposed road will improve local traffic flow and transport connections by providing additional access into and out of the area.
This is in addition to the completion earlier this year of new public open space, including new seating, picnic tables and a fitness circuit. The development has also delivered a new pathway adjacent to the Sunbury railway line that is already popular with bike riders and walkers.
Quotes attributed to State member for Sunbury, Josh Bull MP
“This is a great outcome for the Sunbury community, providing improved road transport links for Jacksons Hill and the wider Sunbury community.”
“This road link south from Jacksons Hill has been long promised and is much needed, initially it will connect to Buckland Way, but with the proposed Sunbury South Ring Road being delivered as part of the Precinct Structure Plan, it will ultimately connect to both Vineyard Rd (close to the proposed Sunbury South station) as well as Sunbury Rd on Redstone Hill.
“Residents will have more options to access the surrounding area faster and more conveniently.”
