The Andrews Labor Government is investing in the growing communities in the West with close to $800,000 to be provided to local groups and organisations through the Sunbury and Bulla Neighbourhood Fund as part of the West Gate Tunnel Project.

Twenty-eight grants and partnerships have been awarded to support local projects in acknowledgement of the temporary disruption to the Sunbury and Bulla area during construction of the West Gate Tunnel.

The $2 million fund has been established by the Labor Government with funding offered in two categories – partnerships and grants – and allows not-for-profit groups access to money for projects that bring lasting benefits to the area.

Two Transforming Neighbourhoods Partnerships of up to $150,000 have been awarded for improvements to community, and sporting and recreation facilities such as the Sunbury BMX Club.

Organisers of the Diwali Festival of Lights are among the recipients of nine Celebrating Neighbourhoods Grants of up to $20,000 that will go towards events bringing local people together.

Seventeen Connecting Neighbourhoods Grants will deliver up to $50,000 for one-off projects or activities that aim to improve community facilities, like new technology and equipment for the Bulla CFA brigade.

The Government is transforming the way people move around Sunbury with the Gap Road level crossing gone for good ahead of schedule, and construction on the Sunbury Road Upgrade powering ahead, while work on the Sunbury Line Upgrade will enable bigger, better trains to run on the line and through the Metro Tunnel from 2025.

Applications for the next round of Sunbury & Bulla Neighbourhood Fund grants and partnerships will open early next year.
