GETTING THE MOST OUT OF SUNBURY’S SCHOOL FACILITIES
Sunbury residents will soon be able to use modern facilities at a brand new community hub, thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.
Member for Sunbury Josh Bull today visited Sunbury Heights Primary School to announce a new $4.2 million community hub to be shared by Sunbury Heights and Sunbury Downs Secondary College, as part of the $50 million Shared Facilities Fund.
The hub will contain modern community facilities including meeting and interview rooms, a commercial kitchen for training, events and activities as well as health services facilities for the Hume Council to use.
There is increasing demand for a community centre in Sunbury as the local population continues to grow.
The Labor Government launched the $50 million Shared Facilities Fund last year to help schools and communities build facilities on school grounds that can be used by the wider community.
This includes not only sports facilities but early learning hubs, libraries and performing arts centres.
The new community facility forms part of the Government’s plan to encourage community participation and access to local services, as well as provide quality multi-use educational and training facilities as part of the Education State.
The Government is investing more than $2.5 billion to improve classrooms, upgrade facilities and build new schools across the state, delivering more than 1,000 school upgrades, 56 new school projects and supporting almost 5,000 construction jobs for Victorians.
