TEN NEW COMMUNITY HOSPITALS TO GIVE PATIENTS THE BEST CARE
A re-elected Andrews Labor Government will build, upgrade and expand community hospitals across our suburbs
and towns, providing even more Victorians with the care they need closer to home.
When a loved one gets sick, families deserve peace of mind that the very best care is just around the corner. That’s
why the Andrews Labor Government has made record investments to build the world-class hospitals and health
services that communities can count on.
Only Labor stands with our doctors, nurses and patients. We’ve already repaired the Liberals’ chronic cuts to health
care, investing $3.2 billion building world-class hospitals and providing our health workers with the modern
equipment they need. But there’s more to do.
Labor will invest $675 million to build and upgrade ten community hospitals across our state – so that every family
can get the care they need, whenever they need it.
With this investment, we’ll make sure that if a child falls sick late at night, a teenager breaks their ankle at sport, or
if a loved one needs dialysis or chemotherapy treatment, they can get the care they need, close to home.
When injury or illness strikes, the last thing families need is a stressful trip in to Melbourne’s busy major hospitals.
We’ve already established Supercare Pharmacies throughout our suburbs and towns, but only a landmark boost to
deliver new community hospitals will give patients the local care they deserve – and only Labor will get it done.
Labor will build new community hospitals at Whittlesea, Eltham, Point Cook and Fishermans Bend – where Matthew
Guy made developers rich, but left the community behind.
Existing services in Craigieburn, Cranbourne, Pakenham, Philip Island, Sunbury and Torquay will be expanded to
become community hospitals, so that patients can access more of the treatments or services they need close to
home, including after hours.
We will work with communities and health services to determine the full range of services to be delivered at each
community hospital.
Only Labor builds hospitals families can count on. The Liberals cut, close and privatise at every chance they get –
it’s in their DNA.
