COMMUNITY’S PLANS FOR JACKSONS HILL A STEP CLOSER

A complete rejuvenation of Sunbury’s iconic Jacksons Hill is a step closer thanks to a major planning breakthrough.

Member for Sunbury Josh Bull announced today that the Andrews Labor Government will buy the former Victoria University campus, paving the way for a major redevelopment complete with open space and education opportunities.

By buying the Victoria University site, the Labor Government is ensuring a major redevelopment of Jacksons Hill will reflect the community’s vision for the cherished site.

Jacksons Hill has so much potential, and we want it to be a vibrant community centre that all Sunbury locals can be proud of.

Jacksons Hill has an exciting future, but its history must also be preserved. The Victorian Budget 2018/19 gets the balance right, preserving heritage and giving the community the flagship facilities and services it deserves.

As part of the plan the Budget includes:

  • $10.8 million to upgrade the Sunbury campus of the Sunbury and Macedon Ranges Specialist School
  • $3.5 million to upgrade the Sunbury Primary School
  • $3 million to support a new Community Arts and Creative Industries Precinct on the site

The future of Jacksons Hill belongs to the Sunbury community and everyone has had a chance to have their say.

The draft Jacksons Hill Master Plan was released late last year following community consultation. It showcases plans to develop the site into a number of distinct precincts – each with its own character.

The final master plan will be released in the coming months.
