DELIVERING BETTER PLAYSPACES FOR THE KIDS OF SUNBURY
Works have begun to upgrade two playspaces in Sunbury, thanks to support from the Andrews Labor Government.
Member for Sunbury Josh Bull represented the Minister for Local Government Shaun Leane today to officially break ground on upgrades to the playspaces at Forrest Street and the Village Green in Rolling Meadows.
Both projects are supported by the Growing Suburbs Fund (GSF), which helps councils in the fastest-growing communities around Melbourne to deliver important infrastructure projects.
The Forrest Street Playspace project received $260,000 from the GSF. It will provide an upgraded play area, with new paths and landscaping and an exercise space. It will be more inclusive and accessible for everyone. A ninja course and a basketball half court will ensure kids of all ages stay active and have fun.
The Village Green project received $256,000 from the GSF and will give locals a better playspace, with seating and new paths to enjoy.
These upgrades at Forrest Street and the Village Green in Rolling Meadows will be delivered by the Hume City Council, which has also contributed $250,000 and $200,000 for each project respectively.
The Growing Suburbs Fund is a $425 million investment over eight years into the fastest-growing municipalities around Melbourne. In the City of Hume alone, it has provided close to $31.5 million in grants to support 35 projects, including the Cloverton Recreation Reserve Pavilion, Hume Tennis and Community Centre and Sunbury Warm Water Pool.
In the 2022-23 Victorian Budget, the Andrews Labor Government announced an additional $50 million in funding for the GSF to continue supporting infrastructure projects in fast-growing areas like Hume.
