BMX, skateboarding and scooting are back big time at Sunbury BMX track thanks to a new pavilion at the popular facility, made possible thanks to an investment from the Andrews Labor Government.

Member for Sunbury Josh Bull officially opened the new pavilion at the track thanks to a $100,000 grant from the Labor Government’s 2018-19 Community Sports Infrastructure Fund.

The pavilion is a boon for the Sunbury BMX Club who have tripled participation numbers over the past few years.

The new pavilion comes complete with new female friendly facilities featuring modern change areas, a social room, first aid area, office space, additional storage, kitchen and a viewing deck.

The benefits of the club will be felt across the community, with nearby schools and community groups also able to access the new facility.

The Government has invested more than $850 million in community sport and recreation facilities across Victoria since 2014, providing better health, wellbeing, social and economic outcomes for Victorian communities.

This investment also includes the new $22 million Local Sports Infrastructure Fund, part of a new suite of infrastructure investment programs that are now open including the World Game Facilities Fund and Community Cricket Program.

The Government also acknowledged Hume City Council and the clubs for their financial contribution and commitment to deliver the project.
